FLATBED PRINTING

What is flatbed printing?

Flatbed printing is a process where we print directly onto flat, rigid surfaces using UV-cured ink. It's ideal for signage, displays, panels, and promotional items. The result is high-resolution, full-colour prints with excellent outdoor durability.

What materials can you print on with flatbed printing?

We can print on a wide range of flat materials including:

  • Corflute (for temporary signage)
  • ACM (Aluminium Composite Material)
  • PVC
  • Wood
  • Acrylic
  • MDF
  • Custom promotional items with flat surfaces

If you're unsure whether your material is suitable, just ask—our team will check.

Can I supply my own material for printing?

Yes—in most cases, you're welcome to supply your own materials. Just let us know in advance so we can make sure it's compatible with our machine and ink. We may need to do a test print first to avoid damage or poor results.

Do you offer double-sided signage printing?

Yes—we can print on both sides of suitable rigid substrates like corflute and ACM. This is a great option for footpath signs, hanging displays, or freestanding panels.

How durable are flatbed-printed items?

Very durable. We use UV-cured inks that are:

  • Waterproof
  • Scratch-resistant
  • UV-resistant (fade-proof outdoors)

With proper care, flatbed-printed signage can last for years. We can also laminate your print for extra protection in harsh environments.

What’s the maximum size you can print?

Our Canon Arizona flatbed printer can handle material up to: 2500mm x 1300mm

For larger displays, we can tile multiple panels together seamlessly.

Is there a minimum order for flatbed printing?

Nope! We’re happy to do one-off jobs or small quantities. Just note that the price per item may be higher for small runs due to setup and handling.

How should I care for and clean flatbed-printed signs?

  • Wipe with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Avoid abrasive pads or scrubbing
  • Don’t use high-pressure water jets directly on the print

This keeps the ink vibrant and prevents scratches.

How is flatbed printing priced?

Pricing depends on:

  • Size of your print
  • Material used (e.g. corflute vs ACM)
  • Ink coverage
  • Quantity
  • Whether you need lamination or trimming

We’ll give you a clear, no-obligation quote before we begin.

How should I supply artwork for flatbed printing?

Please send:

  • Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF)
  • CMYK colour mode
  • Fonts converted to outlines
  • Final artwork at full scale
  • Bleed included if printing edge-to-edge
  • No crop marks (unless we ask for them)

Not sure how to set that up? Our team can assist or make adjustments for you.

Is there a setup fee for flatbed printing?

Sometimes. If we need to adjust artwork, trim materials, or work with irregular shapes, a small setup fee may apply. We’ll always confirm any costs upfront.

Can I place a repeat order later?

Yes—we’ll keep your artwork and print settings on file so reordering is easy. Just let us know what you need repeated.

How does flatbed printing compare to vinyl-cut signage or other methods?

Flatbed printing is better when you want:

  • Full-colour graphics
  • Fast turnaround
  • Direct-to-surface prints (no peeling or lifting edges)

Vinyl is better for:

  • Simple one-colour logos
  • High-contrast text
  • Specific colour-matched branding

We can even combine both methods if needed.

Can I use flatbed printing for promotional items or one-off gifts?

Absolutely! We’ve printed:

  • Wooden signs
  • Awards
  • Acrylic panels
  • Personalised gifts

As long as the surface is flat and rigid, chances are we can print it.
